MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution has reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to accelerating regional development through strengthened housing programs, healthcare services, and infrastructure development.
The statement was delivered during a meeting with Padangsidimpuan Mayor Letnan Dalimunthe and officials from the Padangsidimpuan City Government at the Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall, the official residence of the Governor of North Sumatra on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman No. 41, Medan, on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).The meeting marked an important step in strengthening cooperation between the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the Padangsidimpuan City Administration to accelerate development across several strategic sectors. Discussions focused on priority programs considered vital for local residents, including the construction of permanent housing for disaster-affected communities, improvements in healthcare services, and the development and rehabilitation of road infrastructure.
Bobby Nasution emphasized that balanced regional development remains one of the provincial government's key priorities. According to him, all regions across North Sumatra must receive equal attention to ensure that development initiatives provide tangible benefits to local communities.He noted that the provincial government continues to implement development programs tailored to the needs of people in various regions. Therefore, strong collaboration between the provincial administration and municipal or regency governments is essential to achieving sustainable development goals.

Bobby said the construction of permanent housing represents a concrete form of government support for disaster victims. Beyond providing shelter, the initiative is expected to improve the overall quality of life for beneficiaries.
"The North Sumatra Provincial Government remains committed to development programs that directly benefit the people. The construction of permanent housing, improvements in healthcare services, and infrastructure development are integral parts of that commitment," Bobby said.The housing initiative was welcomed by the Padangsidimpuan City Government, which considers the program highly important in ensuring safe and decent living conditions for affected residents.
In addition to addressing basic housing needs, the program is expected to accelerate social and economic recovery efforts. The funds will be disbursed gradually based on development priorities and regional needs.
For 2026, the North Sumatra Provincial Government has earmarked approximately Rp1.9 trillion for infrastructure projects. The budget will primarily support the construction and rehabilitation of strategic road networks that play a critical role in economic growth and public services.Bobby stressed that quality infrastructure generates significant positive impacts on regional economic development. Well-maintained roads improve access to economic centers, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and other public services.
Therefore, the provincial government continues to encourage the acceleration of infrastructure projects while ensuring that development aligns with local needs and promotes efficient budget utilization.During the meeting, the Padangsidimpuan City Government also presented several infrastructure proposals considered essential for public mobility, including the strategic Angkola Julu–Batunadua road project.
The road corridor is expected to strengthen regional connectivity within Padangsidimpuan. Improved road conditions will provide residents with safer, more comfortable, and more efficient transportation access.
Padangsidimpuan Mayor Letnan Dalimunthe expressed his appreciation to the North Sumatra Provincial Government for its support of various development programs in the city.
He stated that provincial assistance has played a significant role in accelerating the implementation of several priority projects urgently needed by local residents. Particular attention has been given to the construction of 100 permanent housing units, which has already commenced."We would like to thank the North Sumatra Provincial Government for its attention and support.
