LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Government of Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency has officially launched its flagship program, JUMPA BERLIAN (Friday Morning: Clean Environment). The initiative serves as a collective movement to promote a clean lifestyle while strengthening the spirit of community solidarity and the tradition of mutual cooperation among residents.
The program officially began on Friday, July 17, 2026, and was simultaneously implemented across all villages and urban wards throughout Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
The JUMPA BERLIAN movement represents a concrete step taken by the regional government to create a clean, healthy, comfortable, and sustainable environment. The program does not merely focus on cleaning activities but also encourages public awareness that maintaining cleanliness is an essential part of improving the quality of life.
The Regent of Labuhanbatu Selatan, Fery Sahputra Simatupang, S.H., initiated the program as a commitment by the regional government to revive the spirit of mutual cooperation within society. Through this movement, all elements of the community are encouraged to work together in maintaining the environment in residential areas and public facilities.
The first implementation of JUMPA BERLIAN involved various government institutions and community groups, including Regional Government Organizations (OPD), sub-district administrations, village and urban ward administrations, environmental officers, and local residents.
All participants cleaned various areas, including roads, drainage systems, public facilities, and residential neighborhoods within their respective areas. The activity demonstrated that creating a healthy environment requires active participation from all elements of society.
One of the initial implementation locations was Kotapinang Urban Ward. The Head of Kotapinang, Nirwan Sentosa, led a collective cleaning activity in the Tomutua area together with all environmental officers in Kotapinang.
The presence of government representatives alongside residents showed that the government was not only delivering recommendations but also directly setting an example in protecting and preserving the environment.
During the activity, residents and urban ward officials worked together to clean drainage channels, remove overgrown grass, transport waste, and reorganize surrounding areas to make them cleaner and more pleasant. The high level of community participation demonstrated that the spirit of mutual cooperation remains an important force in regional development.
The Head of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Environmental Agency, Saripuddin, also participated in the activity and joined government employees and residents in the cleaning efforts. His involvement reflected strong support for JUMPA BERLIAN as a sustainable movement dedicated to protecting the environment.
Saripuddin and the regional government encouraged residents to make cleanliness a daily habit. Through shared responsibility and collective awareness, a healthy environment can be created with positive impacts on people's lives.
In his remarks, Regent of Labuhanbatu Selatan Fery Sahputra Simatupang emphasized that environmental preservation is not solely the responsibility of the government but a shared duty of all citizens.
"The success of creating a clean and healthy environment can only be achieved when all elements of society have the same level of awareness, unity, and responsibility. Through JUMPA BERLIAN, we want to build a culture of cleanliness that becomes a characteristic of the people of Labuhanbatu Selatan," Fery Sahputra stated.
According to him, the success of this program depends greatly on the public's awareness of making cleanliness part of their character and daily lifestyle.
The Head of Kotapinang, Nirwan Sentosa, explained that communal cleaning activities are part of the nation's cultural heritage that must be preserved and passed on to future generations.
"With this activity, we want to show that the government is present together with the community. Through the spirit of cooperation, we can create a clean, healthy, and comfortable environment that we can proudly maintain together," he said.
Apart from beautifying residential areas, the implementation of JUMPA BERLIAN also provides significant benefits for public health. The program can help reduce flood risks caused by blocked waterways, prevent the spread of environment-related diseases, improve sanitation conditions, and strengthen public awareness of cleanliness.
The Labuhanbatu Selatan Government hopes that JUMPA BERLIAN will be carried out regularly every Friday in all villages and urban wards in the future. Consistent implementation of the program is expected to create a healthier, greener, and more productive environment while strengthening the identity of Labuhanbatu Selatan as a region that upholds the culture of mutual cooperation.
The launch of the JUMPA BERLIAN program marks an important moment in strengthening cooperation between the government and the community.
