FIRE HOTSPOT EXTINGUISHED: Personnel from the joint Karhutla Task Force of Jambi Province discover and extinguish a fire hotspot during a patrol in the Tahura Batanghari area on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - Personnel from the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit of the Jambi Regional Police (Polda Jambi), who are part of the integrated operations command of the Jambi Province Task Force for Forest and Land Fire Prevention and Control (Karhutla), discovered and extinguished a fire during a patrol in the Taman Hutan Raya (Tahura) Batanghari area, Batanghari Regency, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The swift response prevented the fire from spreading and developing into a larger blaze.

The patrol was conducted around Post 06 in Sridadi, within the Tahura Batanghari area. The location is among the areas receiving particular attention as part of Karhutla prevention efforts in Jambi Province. The personnel monitored the area to detect potential fire hotspots at an early stage while also ensuring that conditions remained safe.

Officers Discover Fire During Patrol

During the patrol, the personnel spotted a fire hotspot in the Tahura Batanghari area. Rather than waiting for the flames to spread, they immediately proceeded to the location and extinguished the fire.

The swift response was aimed at preventing the fire from spreading further before the flames could reach surrounding vegetation and forest areas. After extinguishing the fire, the personnel also inspected the affected area to ensure that the flames did not reignite.

Personnel from Yonif 142, the Brimob unit of Polda Jambi and the Jambi Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) took part in extinguishing the fire. Forest protection personnel from the Environmental Agency also supported efforts to control the hotspot.

Coordination among personnel from various institutions accelerated the response at the scene. The swift action enabled the teams to bring the hotspot under control and prevent the fire from developing into a larger forest and land fire.

Polda Jambi Steps Up Patrols and Ground Checks

Jambi Police Chief Inspector General Krisno H. Siregar, through Polda Jambi Public Relations Chief Police Commissioner Erlan Munaji, said that patrols and the immediate handling of fire hotspots were part of Polda Jambi's integrated efforts to prevent and control Karhutla.

"We continue to urge our personnel in the field to strengthen patrols, monitoring and ground checks in response to every indication and every fire hotspot discovered. Once a fire is detected, immediate action must be taken so that it does not spread further," Erlan said.

According to Erlan, personnel do not rely solely on reports from the public to identify potential Karhutla threats. They also conduct independent patrols and monitoring activities in areas considered particularly vulnerable to fires.

These measures are crucial because early intervention at a fire hotspot can reduce the risk of widespread fire. For that reason, every hotspot discovered in the field is treated by personnel as an urgent case and addressed as quickly as possible.

Erlan also emphasized that controlling Karhutla requires speed, readiness and cooperation among all parties involved. Polda Jambi continues to strengthen coordination with the Indonesian Military (TNI), BPBD, regional governments, relevant agencies and communities in areas with a high risk of Karhutla.

"Cooperation and swift action are the keys to preventing Karhutla. We call on everyone to work together to protect the environment and refrain from activities that could trigger forest and land fires," he said.

Public Urged to Report Fire Hotspots Immediately

In addition to strengthening patrols and ground checks, personnel continue to monitor areas considered highly vulnerable to fires. Every hotspot is closely monitored so that immediate action can be taken to prevent the flames from spreading.

Polda Jambi is also urging the public to immediately notify authorities if they discover a fire hotspot or land-clearing and burning activities that could trigger Karhutla. Early reports allow personnel to inspect the location and take action before the fire spreads.

"The public has an important role in preventing Karhutla. If you discover a fire hotspot, please report it immediately so that checks and firefighting efforts can be carried out as quickly as possible," Erlan said in closing.

The patrol and swift extinguishing of the fire hotspot in Tahura Batanghari demonstrate the importance of coordination among security personnel, regional administrations, relevant agencies and the public in addressing the threat of forest and land fires. Rapid action in the field is an important step in protecting forest areas while preventing fires from affecting communities and the environment.

Polda Jambi and the agencies involved will continue to strengthen patrols, monitoring activities and the suppression of fire hotspots in vulnerable areas. These measures are part of a joint commitment to preventing Karhutla at an early stage and protecting Jambi Province from the threat of forest and land fires. (IDNC)
