ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Aceh Tengah Police (Polres Aceh Tengah) continue to reaffirm their commitment to supporting communities affected by the recent natural disaster throughout the recovery and rehabilitation process. In addition to distributing humanitarian aid, the police are also providing healthcare services for residents currently staying in temporary shelters (Hunian Sementara/Huntara) in Linge District.
Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., personally led a working visit to the temporary shelters in Umang and Penarun villages, Linge District, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The visit aimed to assess the current conditions of disaster-affected residents while identifying their remaining needs during the ongoing recovery process.Accompanying the police chief were senior officials of the Aceh Tengah Police, the Linge Sector Police Chief, the Medical and Health Division (Sidokkes) team, representatives of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), officials from the Linge District administration, healthcare workers, and village authorities. The joint presence of these institutions reflected a strong collaborative effort to accelerate the recovery of affected communities.
During the visit, the delegation inspected the temporary shelters where residents are currently living. In addition to reviewing existing facilities, AKBP Muhamad Taufiq spoke directly with residents to hear their concerns, understand their immediate needs, and evaluate the progress of ongoing recovery efforts.At the same time, the Sidokkes medical team of the Aceh Tengah Police provided comprehensive healthcare services, including medical examinations, health consultations, and the distribution of medicines based on each patient's condition.
Through these healthcare services, the police are ensuring that residents continue to have access to medical treatment while living in temporary shelters. The presence of healthcare personnel also helps address health issues arising from environmental conditions and the physical and emotional challenges experienced during the recovery period.Following the activities in Umang Village, the delegation continued to the temporary shelter in Penarun Village, where the police chief also distributed food assistance to disaster-affected residents.
Besides delivering humanitarian aid, AKBP Muhamad Taufiq inspected the living conditions at the shelters to ensure that residents could continue their daily lives under adequate conditions while rehabilitation and reconstruction work remains underway. The visit reaffirmed the police's commitment to supporting affected communities until they can safely return to permanent housing.
As part of the visit, AKBP Muhamad Taufiq and the delegation also inspected land designated for the construction of several supporting public facilities for residents.
The planned facilities include clean water supply systems, sanitation facilities (MCK), and places of worship. These essential facilities are expected to meet the basic needs of residents during their stay in temporary shelters while improving their overall comfort and quality of life.According to the Aceh Tengah Police Chief, developing these facilities is an essential component of the post-disaster recovery process. Access to clean water, proper sanitation, and adequate worship facilities represents fundamental needs that must be fulfilled promptly to help communities gradually return to normal daily activities.
The infrastructure development is the result of close cooperation between the Indonesian National Police, the Aceh Tengah Regency Government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and other relevant institutions committed to restoring affected areas as quickly as possible.
AKBP Muhamad Taufiq emphasized that the Indonesian National Police will continue strengthening cooperation with the Aceh Tengah Regency Government and all relevant stakeholders to accelerate post-disaster recovery through coordinated, targeted, and sustainable efforts.
He stated that the role of the police extends beyond emergency response during disasters. The institution remains committed to accompanying and assisting affected communities until their living conditions have been fully restored.The police chief also expressed his sympathy to residents impacted by the disaster, hoping that the assistance provided would help ease their hardships while encouraging them to rebuild their lives with renewed optimism.
"We want to ensure that people affected by this natural disaster continue to receive the support they need.
