DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang, Lom Lom Suwondo SS, officially opened the team march competition commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026 at the Deli Serdang Regency Government Square on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The event was held in a festive atmosphere and attended by participants from various community groups and institutions. Carrying the spirit of independence, unity, and teamwork, the participants took part in the activity as part of a series of events organized by the Deli Serdang Regency Government to celebrate an important historical moment for the Indonesian nation.
In his remarks, Lom Lom Suwondo encouraged all participants to take part in the competition with sportsmanship, discipline, and a strong sense of unity and togetherness. He emphasized that the activity was a reflection of love and dedication toward the nation and state.
"Let us make this independence celebration a moment to continue strengthening the spirit of brotherhood, solidarity, and national awareness within society. The independence we enjoy today is the result of the struggles of our heroes. We must continue this achievement through concrete contributions, dedication, discipline, and the spirit of regional development," said Lom Lom.
Lom Lom Suwondo explained that the team march was not merely a competition to achieve victory, but also an opportunity to strengthen relationships between regional government employees and the community.
According to him, the activity carries positive values in building teamwork, strengthening social bonds, and encouraging the spirit of mutual cooperation in community life.
Lom Lom emphasized that the spirit of independence must continue to be realized through various activities that strengthen social relations and encourage a sense of togetherness among citizens.
"The team march is not only a competition, but also a forum to strengthen friendship, build solidarity, and promote the spirit of mutual assistance between the Deli Serdang Government and the community," he stated.
Furthermore, Lom Lom reminded all participants to maintain order and safety throughout the event. He hoped that participants would view the competition as an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood rather than focusing solely on the final results.
"I hope all participants can take part with great enthusiasm, prioritize safety throughout the route, and use this competition as an opportunity to strengthen friendship. Let us continue carrying the spirit of independence by achieving accomplishments and providing the best service for the community," he added.
The team march started from Alun-Alun Lubuk Pakam. The participants then followed a route passing through several roads, including Jalan Karya Utama, Jalan Karya Usaha, Jalan Anggrek, Jalan Tirta Deli, Jalan Sibolangit, Jalan Labuhan Deli, Jalan Keramat, Jalan Medan–Lubuk Pakam, and Jalan Tanjung Garbus before returning to the starting point at Alun-Alun Lubuk Pakam.
The route provided an opportunity for residents to witness the enthusiasm of participants in celebrating the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence.
In addition to the team march, the Deli Serdang Regency Government also organized various entertainment programs and community competitions. Traditional games and sports activities, including tug-of-war, healthy exercise sessions, sarong races, and sack races, added to the festive atmosphere.
These activities were part of efforts to create a joyful independence celebration while strengthening social interaction and togetherness among residents.
The opening ceremony of the team march was attended by several government and security representatives, including Deli Serdang TP PKK Chairwoman I Staff Member Asniar Lom Lom Suwondo, representative of Kodim 0204/Deli Serdang Operations Officer Captain Kav. Guntur Sinaga, and representative of the Deli Serdang Police Headquarters, Head of the Community Development Unit (Binmas), Kompol Syafrizal.
Also present were Deli Serdang Regional Secretary Dedi Maswardy, several assistants, expert staff, heads of regional government organizations (OPD), department heads, and subdistrict heads from across Deli Serdang Regency.
The presence of the regional government and related institutions reflected their shared commitment to ensuring the success of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence celebrations while strengthening the spirit of cooperation throughout Deli Serdang. (IDNC)
