DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Branch Scout Council (Kwarcab Gerakan Pramuka Deli Serdang) held a training session for content creators in the field of public outreach. The program was aimed at strengthening the skills and competencies of Scout members in managing information, digital communication, and producing creative and informative content.
The one-day event was held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Cendana Hall on the first floor of the Deli Serdang Regent's Office. The training was attended by representatives from 22 Sub-District Scout Councils (Kwartir Ranting) across Deli Serdang.
Each Kwartir Ranting sent two Scout leaders, along with two members from the Penegak and Pandega Scout levels. The training provided participants with an opportunity to deepen their digital communication skills and learn strategies for producing content capable of delivering information to the public in an engaging manner.
Anwar Sadat, Deputy Head of Public Relations and Information Technology at the Deli Serdang Branch Scout Council, said the training invited practitioners with experience in digital media and social networking. Their practical experience was expected to provide participants with direct insight into the development of communication in the digital era.
The speakers were Fauzan Ismail, a copywriter and digital strategist as well as CEO of Cerita Sumut, and May Andriani Siregar, a social media specialist and graphic designer.
Anwar said the training gave participants an opportunity to learn directly from experienced practitioners, particularly about digital communication strategies and the use of social media.
"So far, various issues are often presented only from the negative side. Through creative and responsible content, however, a creator can also convey a positive image of a region, organization, or individual," Anwar said.
According to him, content creation skills are not limited to technical abilities. Content creators must also understand how to deliver messages accurately so that published information is easy to understand and provides benefits to the community.
He hoped participants would make the most of the opportunity to discuss with the speakers and learn from their experience. The knowledge gained during the training is expected to be applied to Scout activities within their respective Kwartir Ranting.
"We want participants to gain new insights into digital communication strategies, the creation of engaging content, and the use of social media to disseminate positive and useful information," he said.
Anwar also emphasized that the development of social media has created various opportunities for the Gerakan Pramuka to introduce its activities to the public. With professional content management, Scout activities aimed at developing the younger generation can be documented while also reaching a wider audience.

The Chairwoman of the Deli Serdang Branch Scout Council, represented by Kwarcab Secretary Anita Irma Tambunan, praised the enthusiasm of the Scout leaders and members from the Penegak and Pandega levels who participated in the training.
Anita said the Deli Serdang Branch Scout Council organized the event because many Scout activities have positive value but have not yet been optimally promoted through digital media.
"Many of the Scout activities we have carried out so far have not been sufficiently presented and introduced in the digital world. Therefore, I hope that after this training, our brothers and sisters will make more active use of social media," she said.
She explained that Scout activities encompass far more than camping and pioneering. The Gerakan Pramuka also serves as a platform for character building and the development of various skills needed by young people.
Scout activities can help develop independence, responsibility, perseverance, teamwork, and social engagement. These various youth development processes are important aspects that should also be introduced to the public through digital content.
Therefore, Anita hoped participants would use their newly acquired skills to showcase various Scout activities as well as the values promoted by the Gerakan Pramuka. The content they produce should not merely serve as a source of information but should also inspire young people.

Anita emphasized that technological devices alone are not enough to produce quality content. Creativity and ideas are essential factors in determining the quality of content.
"Besides a mobile phone, ideas and creativity are the most important requirements for creating content. Hopefully, after this training, content will be produced that inspires people and conveys positive values to the community," she said.
At the same time, she reminded participants to observe ethical principles when creating and distributing content through social media. Every piece of information intended for publication must first be verified to ensure its accuracy.
In addition to checking the quality of information, participants must also consider the potential impact of the content they produce. Anita stressed that content should not harm others or insult or demean individuals or groups.
"Be content creators with character. Avoid spreading unverified news as well as content that could insult or demean other people," she said.
The public outreach content creator training is expected to continue beyond the one-day learning program. Participants are expected to use the knowledge and skills they have gained to strengthen the publication of Scout activities at both the Kwartir Ranting and Kwarcab levels.
As Scout leaders, Penegak, and Pandega members increasingly produce creative, informative, and responsible content, the various activities of the Deli Serdang Gerakan Pramuka can be introduced to a wider audience. At the same time, social media can serve as a platform for bringing Scout values closer to the younger generation in a contemporary and direct manner. (IDNC)
