However, Irvan criticized the subsequent decision to halt the investigation.
"Instead of proceeding to prosecution (P-21), the investigation was terminated on the grounds of insufficient evidence, as stated in letter SP.Hentik.Sidik/68-a/I/RES.1.24/2026/Reskrim dated January 19, 2026, along with notification letter No. B/1350-a/I/RES.1.24./2026/Reskrim issued the same day," he explained.LBH Medan argues that this decision contradicts Article 1 Number 28 in conjunction with Article 235 Paragraph 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), as well as international human rights instruments, including the Indonesian Constitution, Law No. 39/1999 on Human Rights, the ICCPR, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Irvan emphasized that the suspect designation was initially based on multiple forms of evidence, making the decision to discontinue the investigation legally questionable.
He expressed hope that the court would grant the petition in full and order investigators to continue the case until a complete prosecution is filed, ensuring justice for the alleged victim. (IDNC)REPORTER: Darmailawati | EDITOR: Fik Sagala
