Aceh Strengthens Synergy to Combat Drug Crisis

DRUG CONTROL COORDINATION MEETING: Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government, M. Nasir, opens the 2026 Drug Control Coordination Meeting in Banda Aceh, aiming to strengthen cooperation in addressing the drug emergency.

BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government officially opened the 2026 Drug Control Coordination Meeting, organized by the Aceh Islamic Sharia Office in collaboration with the Lembaga Pemerhati dan Advokasi Syariat Islam (LEPADSI). The event was held at the Kyriad Muraya Hotel in Banda Aceh on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Governor, the Secretary emphasized that Aceh is currently facing a drug emergency situation. The provincial government views this condition as a serious challenge that requires integrated and comprehensive measures involving prevention, law enforcement, and rehabilitation efforts.

The Secretary reaffirmed the full commitment of the Aceh Government in combating drug trafficking across the province. The administration continues to strengthen policy frameworks, enhance cross-sector coordination, and support law enforcement agencies in tackling drug-related crimes.

He also stressed that strong institutional synergy is essential to ensure sustainable and effective drug control strategies.

Role of Families and Communities

Beyond governmental intervention, the Aceh administration also encourages active participation from families, village communities (gampong), educational institutions, as well as religious and community leaders. These groups are considered the frontline in protecting young people from drug abuse and its long-term consequences.

The coordination meeting was attended by several key figures, including the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Aceh, Brig. Gen. Pol. Dr. Dedy Tabrani, national politician Azwar Abubakar, and various academics.
