Police Respond to Public Reports, Raid Finds No Evidence of Gambling at Sky City Game Center

BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM - Officers from the Lubuk Baja Police Sector conducted a raid at the Sky City Game Center on the second floor of the SNL Building in Tanjung Uma, Lubuk Baja District, on Wednesday evening, July 29, 2026. The operation was carried out in response to reports from members of the public alleging that illegal gambling activities were taking place at the venue.

The operation was personally led by Lubuk Baja Police Chief Commissioner Deni Langie, accompanied by Head of Criminal Investigation Inspector Gihon Sahatma Togu Lumban Raja and several officers from the Lubuk Baja Police Sector. The inspection aimed to verify information circulating within the community through a direct on-site investigation.

Upon arriving at the Sky City Game Center, officers immediately inspected all gaming areas. The team carefully examined the gaming machines, monitored visitors' activities, and ensured that the entertainment facility was operating in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The inspection found no evidence of illegal gambling activities. Police discovered neither cash transactions, betting systems, nor the exchange of gaming credits or tokens for money, all of which are key indicators of unlawful gambling operations.

Thorough On-Site Inspection

Commissioner Deni Langie said the raid reflected the police's prompt response to information provided by the public. Every report received, he emphasized, is verified to ensure transparency, accountability, and legal certainty for the community.

"During the on-site inspection, we found no cash transactions whatsoever. Therefore, it is clear that there are no elements of gambling activities at this location," Commissioner Deni Langie said.

He further explained that all machines operating at Sky City are intended solely for entertainment purposes. Officers found no bookmakers, betting activities, or mechanisms allowing prizes or game credits to be exchanged for cash, practices that would constitute violations of the law.

According to Commissioner Deni Langie, the inspection was also intended to ensure that public reports were handled professionally, objectively, and transparently.

Police to Continue Routine Monitoring

Although no evidence of gambling was found, the Lubuk Baja Police Sector reminded the management of Sky City Game Center to continue operating strictly in compliance with prevailing laws and regulations. The operators were urged not to allow any form of illegal gambling activity to be conducted under the guise of entertainment games.

Commissioner Deni Langie stressed that routine monitoring of entertainment venues within the jurisdiction of the Lubuk Baja Police Sector would continue as part of ongoing efforts to prevent potential violations of the law.

"We will continue conducting inspections. Should we receive further reports from the public, we will certainly follow them up," he said.

He added that close cooperation between the community and the police remains essential in maintaining public security and order. Residents are therefore encouraged to report any suspected violations of the law to the authorities.

Residents Welcome Swift Police Response

The prompt action taken by the Lubuk Baja Police Sector was welcomed by residents of Tanjung Uma. Prior to the operation, several community members had expressed concerns that the game center could potentially be misused for illegal gambling activities, creating unease in the neighborhood.

Through the inspection, police confirmed that activities at the Sky City Game Center remain strictly within the scope of recreational entertainment and do not exhibit any characteristics of illegal gambling operations. The immediate on-site inspection also demonstrated the police's commitment to handling public reports in a transparent and professional manner.
