JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - The dynamics within RT 04, Wijaya Pura Urban Village, Jambi Selatan District, Jambi City, continue to persist following differing views among residents regarding the leadership of the neighborhood unit (RT). Several parties stated that the conflict stems from disagreements over the management of community programs related to government assistance from the municipal administration.
The local community leader of RT 04, Beti Tribani, explained that the current situation originated from tensions surrounding the management of infrastructure development funds provided under a program by the Jambi City Government. According to her, differing perspectives have emerged between some residents and the local administration, leading to internal debates within the community.Beti stated that the so-called "Kampung Bahagia" grant program from the Jambi City Government, amounting to approximately IDR 91 million, was allocated for various infrastructure developments such as neighborhood roads and street lighting. All construction works, she emphasized, have been fully completed.
"There was a conflict because the RT did not meet certain demands from individuals. These individuals then attempted to find faults and allegedly encouraged other residents to support the removal of the RT head," Beti Tribani said during a meeting in the Persijam area.
Beti further added that the implementation results had been recognized by the Jambi City Government as one of the successful examples of the "Kampung" development program, indicating that the execution had generally been effective.
She also stated that an audit of the fund usage had been conducted by the Internal Supervisory Agency of Jambi City (Inspektorat), with no irregularities found in either financial management or project implementation.However, she criticized the ongoing differing opinions within the community, which continue to fuel tensions. She also expressed regret that no final decision has yet been issued by the Kelurahan or sub-district authorities.
In her view, residents expect firm action from local authorities to prevent further unrest within the community.He emphasized that the results should be made transparent to avoid further controversy among residents.
"The results of the vote seem to be withheld or not published by the Kecamatan. Worse, there are plans for another meeting. What is the point of another meeting if the results already exist? They should just be announced so the issue is resolved," Suherman said.He also called for a fair and open resolution to the matter to prevent misunderstandings within the neighborhood. Suherman stated that he is ready to accept any collectively agreed decision as long as it is formally established.
According to him, clearer communication between the Kelurahan, Kecamatan, and residents is key to de-escalating the situation.
The Lurah of Wijaya Pura, Ubaidilah, stated that the conflict in RT 04 originated from a citizen complaint regarding a vote of no confidence against the RT leadership.
He explained that the Kelurahan had conducted several mediations and handled all incoming complaints as part of its public service duties. The process has also been coordinated with the Kecamatan as the higher administrative authority."After that, I consulted with the Camat as my superior. That is why the process has taken some time. However, it is still ongoing, including the verification of residents' signatures," he said.
Ubaidilah stressed that all verification processes are being carried out in accordance with applicable procedures, including signature validation and legal coordination.He added that another community meeting is planned in order to reach the best possible resolution in line with the relevant mayoral regulation.
"As the Lurah, I act as a mediator. Any decision must come from the residents, in accordance with Mayor Regulation No. 6 of 2025," he said.He rejected allegations of pressure from certain parties, stating that all processes are being handled collectively and in line with administrative mechanisms.
However, he acknowledged that limited staffing remains a challenge in handling public complaints efficiently.Despite this, he reaffirmed that the Kelurahan remains committed to resolving the issue in a fair, transparent, and procedural manner. (IDNC)
