MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM The City Government of Medan has once again achieved a significant milestone in public financial management, receiving its sixth consecutive Wajar Tanpa Pengecualian (WTP) or unqualified audit opinion from the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) North Sumatra Representative Office for the 2025 fiscal year financial report.

The official announcement was delivered during the handover of the Audit Result Report (Laporan Hasil Pemeriksaan/LHP) by Head of BPK RI North Sumatra Representative Office, Paula Henry Simatupang, to Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas. The ceremony took place on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the BPK North Sumatra auditorium.

Six Years of Consistent Financial Accountability

Medan's achievement marks a sustained record of clean financial governance, with the city maintaining its WTP status for six consecutive years. The recognition reflects strong compliance with regulations, transparency, and accountability in the management of public funds.

The repeated achievement is widely regarded as a benchmark of stable and well-structured fiscal governance within the municipal administration.

Mayor Rico Waas Highlights Collective Commitment

Mayor Rico Waas expressed his appreciation to all government units and personnel involved in maintaining the city's strong financial reporting standards.

"Thank you to the Audit Board for once again awarding the WTP opinion to the City of Medan. Alhamdulillah, we have achieved this for six consecutive years," he said.

He emphasized that the achievement is not merely an administrative accomplishment, but the result of integrity, discipline, and professional collaboration across all levels of the city government.

Strengthening Public Service Delivery

Mayor Rico also urged all agencies within the city administration to use this recognition as motivation to further improve the quality of public services. He stressed that continuous improvement is essential and that complacency must be avoided.
