JELAJAH DESA JILID VII PROGRAM: Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang personally greets residents and listens to their concerns during “Jelajah Desa Jilid VII” in Pasir Tuntung Village, Kotapinang District, on Friday, September 4, 2026.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government has once again brought public services closer to residents through the "Jelajah Desa Jilid VII" program. Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang personally met with residents as part of the initiative. The event was held on Friday, September 4, 2026, in Pasir Tuntung Village, Kotapinang District.

Carrying the theme "Visit the Village, Listen to the People's Concerns, Build Labuhanbatu Selatan," "Jelajah Desa Jilid VII" brought various government services directly to residents. In Pasir Tuntung, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Government provided services including population administration and civil registration, healthcare, family planning, licensing and social assistance.

As a result, residents no longer need to travel long distances to the administrative center to access various government services. At the same time, the event provided an opportunity for residents to raise their concerns and problems directly with the regent.

The presence of Regent Fery Sahputra and his delegation was warmly welcomed by the community. The regent took the time to greet residents, engage in conversations with them and listen to the various challenges they face in their daily lives.

Fery Sahputra was accompanied at the event by Labuhanbatu Selatan Government Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, Commander of the 11th Kotapinang Military District Command Major Inf. Hendra Gunawan, the regent's assistants and special advisers, heads of regional agencies and district heads.

Government Services Delivered Directly to the Village

The Pasir Tuntung Village Office served as the main location for services provided through "Jelajah Desa Jilid VII." The government offered population administration services, allowing residents to apply for or process identity cards, family cards, birth certificates and child identity cards.

Healthcare and family planning services were also available. Residents could undergo medical examinations, receive electrocardiography or ECG examinations and have contraceptive implants inserted free of charge. Health workers also provided contraceptives and reactivation services for residents who required them.

Other public services complemented the program. Residents could make use of a mobile library and receive free consultations on licensing procedures.

Bringing government services directly to the village level is one of the key strengths of "Jelajah Desa." Rather than simply waiting for residents to come to government offices, the administration goes directly into the community to make public services more accessible.

Fery Sahputra personally monitored the services being provided. He ensured that residents were able to access the various facilities and services available throughout the event.

In response to residents' need for affordable staple foods, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Government also held a subsidized market. A package of basic necessities was sold for Rp90,000.

The package contained five kilograms of rice and two liters of cooking oil. The subsidized market was part of the government's efforts to help residents purchase essential food items at more affordable prices.

In addition to the subsidized market, the government provided various forms of assistance to residents, including food packages, vegetable seeds and work equipment for people with disabilities.

BAZNAS Provides Assistance to 100 Needy Families

Social assistance was also an important part of "Jelajah Desa VII." The Labuhanbatu Selatan National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) took part in the event and distributed assistance to residents in need.

Chairman of BAZNAS Labuhanbatu Selatan Muhammad Yusuf Hasibuan, S.Fil.I., S.H., said the organization distributed assistance to 100 needy people in Pasir Tuntung.

Each family received a package of basic food supplies. The assistance is intended to help meet the recipients' daily needs.

According to Muhammad Yusuf, the assistance is expected to provide tangible benefits to residents, particularly amid current spending constraints and the limited financial resources available to the regional government.

The involvement of BAZNAS also strengthens the social dimension of the "Jelajah Desa" program. Regional development is not limited to infrastructure construction and other physical facilities, but also includes improving the welfare of people who require special support.

Through this assistance, the government and social institutions are working together to ensure that vulnerable members of the community continue to receive attention and support despite various economic challenges.

Seven Road Sections Added to Development Agenda

The dialogue between Regent Fery Sahputra and residents also brought various development needs in Pasir Tuntung Village to the government's attention. Road infrastructure was among the issues given particular consideration.

Fery Sahputra said road improvements were highly important for the residents of Pasir Tuntung. The government will include at least seven road sections in the village's infrastructure development agenda.

The road improvements are expected to strengthen regional connectivity and make it easier for residents to move around. Adequate infrastructure can also create new opportunities for community economic activities.

For people living in villages, roads are not simply about vehicle access. Road conditions are directly linked to educational activities, access to healthcare, the transportation of agricultural products and the economic mobility of residents.

With better road connections, farmers will be able to transport their agricultural products to markets more easily. Children will also have easier access to schools, while residents will be able to reach healthcare services without being hindered by inadequate infrastructure.

The government's direct presence was welcomed by the people of Pasir Tuntung. One resident thanked Regent Fery Sahputra for personally coming to the village and bringing various services that residents previously had to travel to the administrative center to access.

"Thank you to the regent for coming to Pasir Tuntung and providing good services. Many people feel supported by this. Services that were previously far away are now being brought closer to the villages," the resident said.

The statement reflects the central objective of "Jelajah Desa," which is to reduce the distance between the government and the people. The government not only brings its programs into villages, but also creates opportunities for residents to directly communicate their needs and problems.

"Jelajah Desa Jilid VII" demonstrates a government approach in which residents play an important role in the development process of Labuhanbatu Selatan.

The regent's presence among residents provides greater opportunities for people to raise their concerns without having to navigate lengthy bureaucratic procedures. At the same time, the government can directly observe conditions in the field and gain a better understanding of residents' needs based on actual circumstances.

The various initiatives under "Jelajah Desa," ranging from population administration, healthcare and family planning services to subsidized markets, social assistance and road construction, share one primary objective: bringing the government closer to the people.

The program also serves as a platform for the regional government to review its services and development measures. Through the initiative, the government can ensure that planned policies do not remain merely on paper, but actually deliver benefits to people at the village level.

"Jelajah Desa Jilid VII" was therefore more than simply a visit by the regent. The program became a platform where the government could greet residents, listen to their concerns, provide services and respond directly to the needs of the community.

With this approach, the success of development is not measured solely by how many programs the government implements. Equally important is how close the government is to the people when they need services, assistance or solutions to the various challenges they face in their daily lives. (IDNC)
