DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Percut Sei Tuan District now has a new public space that is expected to become a center for community activities in the area. The Alun-Alun (town square) located in Saentis Village was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, by the Deli Serdang Regency Government in collaboration with PT Musim Mas.
The newly developed facility is designed to provide residents with a comfortable area for sports, social interaction, and economic activities. The public space is part of the regional government's efforts to expand public infrastructure and improve the quality of life for residents in Percut Sei Tuan District.
Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan expressed his appreciation for PT Musim Mas' contribution in supporting the construction of the public facility through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
"PT Musim Mas has given us an extraordinary gift, an Alun-Alun that, in my opinion, has been very well developed. I hope this place will become a source of pride for the district and a new landmark for Percut Sei Tuan," Asri Ludin Tambunan said during the inauguration.
The event was attended by Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan along with Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo.
Asri Ludin Tambunan stated that the regional government will continue to accelerate the development of public facilities in Percut Sei Tuan District. The construction of various infrastructure projects is part of the government's commitment to improving public services for the community.
He revealed that preparations are underway for the construction of a new Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Percut Sei Tuan, with development expected to begin next year. The new healthcare facility is expected to expand public access to medical services.
In addition to the healthcare sector, the government is also focusing on improving educational facilities. Currently, the Deli Serdang Regency Government is coordinating with the North Sumatra Provincial Government regarding the establishment of a public senior high school (Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri/SMAN) in Percut Sei Tuan District.
According to Asri Ludin Tambunan, adequate educational infrastructure is one of the most important needs for residents in the region.
"I want Percut to become an extraordinary district, one that truly represents Deli Serdang and becomes a symbol that we can all be proud of," he emphasized.
The newly inaugurated Alun-Alun not only provides a green open space but also offers various facilities that can be utilized by people from all segments of society. These include child-friendly playgrounds that provide families with a safe and comfortable recreational area.
The facility also features sports areas that can be used by residents from various villages around Percut Sei Tuan District. The government hopes the Alun-Alun will serve as a place for collective activities and strengthen social relationships among residents.
Various positive community activities are also expected to develop in the public space and create greater benefits for society.

President Director of PT Musim Mas Gunawan Siregar explained that the construction of the Alun-Alun was not only aimed at creating a green open space but also at providing a gathering place for residents and strengthening social connections.
Residents can use the facility as a venue for meetings, sports activities, and family or community events.
"We are handing over this Alun-Alun to the regional government for use by the community. Hopefully, this facility will bring blessings and strengthen the spirit of togetherness among residents," Gunawan said.
He also sees significant potential for economic growth through the presence of the new public space. Gunawan hopes the regional government will ensure proper management and development so that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) can gain opportunities to grow their businesses.
According to him, economic activities around the Alun-Alun could have a positive impact on residents' income while making the area more vibrant.

The inauguration of the Percut Sei Tuan District Alun-Alun was accompanied by social assistance programs as a form of support for the local community.
PT Musim Mas provided assistance to 25 underprivileged residents and orphans. The company also distributed 170 packages of school supplies for children in coastal areas through the Pemula Sertasiswa PKBM Laskar Pelangi program.
The event concluded with the signing of the handover document for the Alun-Alun construction project, which was funded through PT Musim Mas' CSR program. The Chairperson of TP PKK Deli Serdang, Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan, together with TP PKK Deli Serdang's Expert Advisor I, Asniar Lom Lom Suwondo, then carried out the ribbon-cutting ceremony as an official symbol of the inauguration.
Representatives from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), police officials, Bhabinkamtibmas personnel, government agencies, and other related institutions attended the inauguration ceremony.
The Alun-Alun is expected to become a new symbol of Percut Sei Tuan District and serve as a public space that encourages social activities, sports development, and economic growth for the community. (IDNC)
