COMMUNITY WORK: Kotapinang Police, Muspika representatives, government staff, and residents clean Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani as part of the Jumat Bersih program in Kotapinang, Labuhanbatu Selatan.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM The Kotapinang Police, together with the Muspika of Kotapinang District, demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental awareness and community solidarity through the "Jumat Bersih" (Clean Friday) program. The large-scale clean-up activity was held along Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani in Kotapinang Urban Village on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The early morning operation brought together police personnel, local government officials, the Municipal Police Unit (Satpol PP), neighborhood leaders, and residents in a coordinated effort to clean drainage channels, remove waste, trim overgrown grass, and tidy roadside areas in the town center.

The initiative also aimed to reduce the risk of flooding caused by clogged drainage systems, while improving the overall quality of the urban environment.

Police Promote Environmental Awareness and Gotong Royong

The program reflects a continuous effort to build public awareness that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility.

AKP Hotpinder Sinaga, Head of the Samapta Unit of Kotapinang Police, representing Police Chief AKP Maruli Tua Siregar, led the coordination of the activity. The event was also attended by Bhabinkamtibmas officers, the Head of Kotapinang Village (Lurah) Mirwan Siregar, Satpol PP personnel, government staff, and local residents.

Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring, through AKP Maruli Tua Siregar, emphasized that the "Jumat Bersih" program is part of a long-term strategy to strengthen environmental awareness and public participation.

"Cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the government or sanitation workers. It is a shared duty that requires active community involvement," he stated.

He also highlighted the importance of preserving gotong royong (mutual cooperation) as a core value of Indonesian society in solving social and environmental issues.

Lurah Calls for Active Public Participation

Kotapinang Village Head (Lurah) Mirwan Siregar stated that the weekly clean-up program is consistently implemented every Friday to maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive environment.

He stressed that public participation plays a crucial role in preventing environmental problems such as waste accumulation, blocked drainage, and seasonal flooding.

"Kotapinang, as a key administrative and economic center in Labuhanbatu Selatan, requires strong environmental management. A clean environment reflects a responsible society," he said.

The activity took place in a cooperative and friendly atmosphere, with police officers and residents working side by side without hierarchical barriers. The public welcomed the initiative, noting the police's active involvement in supporting community welfare beyond security duties.

The event concluded safely, orderly, and smoothly, in line with the "Polri Presisi" approach to strengthening collaboration between authorities and the public. (IDNC)
