COMMUNICATION CAPACITY BUILDING: The Regional 1 Humas Forum of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 1 in Dumai, Riau, aims to strengthen communication competencies and collaboration to support corporate transformation.

DUMAI | INDATANEWS.COM PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 1 has intensified its efforts to enhance communication competence and collaboration within its Public Relations division. The initiative was highlighted during the two-day "Regional 1 Humas Forum," held on June 3–4, 2026, in Dumai, Riau Province. The forum focused on developing communication skills, strengthening internal synergy, and supporting the company's ongoing transformation agenda.

The event served as a strategic platform to reinforce human resource capabilities while advancing organizational transformation within the state-owned port operator.

Communication Synergy Across Regional Units

The forum brought together communication representatives from all branch offices under Pelindo Regional 1, including subholding entities and subsidiaries. A series of experts delivered strategic insights on contemporary communication challenges, public information transparency, and the evaluation of communication program effectiveness.

Virtual attendance was recorded from the President Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), Achmad Muchtasyar, alongside the Group Head of Corporate Secretariat, Ali Sodikin, emphasizing the strategic importance of communication functions within the organization.

Strengthening the Role of Communication in Transformation

Executive Director 1 of Pelindo Regional 1, Jonedi Ramli, officially opened the forum and underscored the critical role of corporate communications in safeguarding and enhancing the company's reputation. He noted that a strong communication framework is essential to support Pelindo's transformation in an increasingly dynamic and information-driven environment.

Participants also gained in-depth understanding of key communication issues, including public information disclosure standards presented by Aditya Nuriya Solikhah from Indonesia's Central Information Commission.

She outlined regulatory frameworks governing public information access, distinguishing between information that must be disclosed and information that is exempt under applicable laws, strengthening participants' understanding of responsible transparency practices.

Workshops on Communication Effectiveness and Evaluation

A key highlight of the forum was a session on communication performance measurement delivered by strategic public relations expert Fardila Astari, M.Si., IAPR, CIQNR, CIQAR, using the AMEC Integrated Evaluation Framework.

Participants were introduced to structured methods for evaluating communication programs and measuring their impact on organizational goals. The data-driven approach was emphasized as a critical tool for strategic communication decision-making.

The program also featured interactive discussions, workshops, case studies, and experience-sharing sessions, enabling cross-regional knowledge exchange and strengthening best practices in corporate communication.

Recognition for Excellence in Public Relations

To recognize outstanding performance, Pelindo Regional 1 presented several awards across multiple categories, including Best Corporate Branding, Best Media Relations, Fast Response Communication, and Best Social Media Engagement.

Manager of Legal and Public Relations at Pelindo Regional 1, Fadillah Haryono, stated that the forum is a key initiative to improve professionalism in corporate communication.

"This forum is designed to strengthen collaboration and enhance the competencies of our communication personnel in response to the rapidly evolving communication landscape," he said.

The forum concluded by reaffirming Pelindo Regional 1's commitment to continuously improving communication capacity as part of its broader transformation strategy, aimed at strengthening reputation management at both national and regional levels. (IDNC)
