MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Consulate General of India in Medan hosted a business promotion forum at Hotel Aryaduta Medan, bringing together government officials, business leaders, academics, and members of the chamber of commerce to strengthen economic cooperation and expand trade and investment between India and Indonesia, particularly in the technology sector.
Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas officially opened the event, emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation across strategic sectors, including the economy, education, culture, and healthcare."The Medan city administration aims to expand cooperation with India, especially in the healthcare sector," he said.

The forum was attended by several prominent figures, including Chairman of the Medan Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) Arman Chandra, entrepreneur and Honorary Consul of Turkey Rahmat Shah, Vice Rector for Cooperation at the University of North Sumatra (USU) Himsar Ambarita, and Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) Medan Ryalsyah Putra. Representatives from Indian companies and tourism stakeholders were also present.
Indian Consul General in Medan, Ravi Shanker Goel, highlighted the development of trade relations between India and ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, and pointed to vast opportunities for Indonesian businesses."India is now the world's fourth-largest economy and offers significant investment opportunities," he noted.
He also stressed that stronger regional economic connectivity would benefit both nations, underscoring the need to further develop partnerships between Indian companies and stakeholders in North Sumatra.
Tourism Potential and Business Opportunities
In addition to trade and investment, the forum showcased India's tourism potential. Participants were introduced to cultural landmarks, natural attractions, and modern urban destinations, aiming to enhance tourism exchanges between the two countries.Organizers also presented upcoming business events in India, including trade exhibitions, economic forums, and cultural programs. These initiatives are expected to foster new networks, encourage knowledge sharing, and unlock further collaboration opportunities.
