LANGKAT | INDATANEWS.COM - PT Hutama Karya (Persero), through Hutama Karya, is conducting a trial operation of a contraflow traffic system on the Binjai–Langsa Toll Road section. The trial is being carried out specifically at the access area to the Batang Serangan Bridge at Kilometer 55. The implementation serves as preparation for planned toll road infrastructure maintenance work while ensuring smooth traffic management throughout the maintenance period.
The temporary diversion of traffic onto the opposite-direction lane will be tested from Thursday, August 6, 2026, until Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The trial aims to evaluate the readiness of the traffic management system before the contraflow scheme is fully implemented during the entire maintenance period.
Hutama Karya stated that maintenance work at the Batang Serangan Bridge access area is part of the company's ongoing efforts to preserve toll road infrastructure quality while improving safety, security and comfort for road users.
Hutama Karya's Regional Head for North Sumatra, Taufiq Hidayat, explained that vehicle movements during the contraflow trial will be regulated according to applicable traffic signs and instructions from field officers.
According to Taufiq, Hutama Karya, the police, transportation authorities and other related stakeholders will continuously monitor traffic conditions to ensure the traffic management system operates optimally during the trial period.
"This contraflow trial is carried out to ensure that traffic management during maintenance work can be implemented safely and smoothly. Through this trial, we can directly evaluate actual conditions in the field and make necessary adjustments. This will allow road users to continue travelling safely, comfortably and with minimal disruption during the later implementation. The Binjai–Langsa Toll Road will remain operational during the maintenance work and can still be safely used by all vehicle classes," he said.
To support traffic safety, Hutama Karya has prepared various safety facilities within the work area. These include traffic signs, traffic cones, water barriers, warning lights and operational personnel who remain on standby around the clock.

Taufiq appealed to Binjai–Langsa Toll Road users to carefully prepare their journeys and comply with all applicable traffic regulations around the maintenance area.
"We hope road users will support this trial operation by driving carefully and following all traffic regulations. Through cooperation from all users, maintenance work can be carried out smoothly, ensuring the quality of toll road services remains well maintained," he added.
Hutama Karya also apologized to road users for possible inconvenience during the implementation of the contraflow trial. Toll road users are advised to reduce speed in the work zone, remain alert, follow traffic signs and comply with instructions from field officers to maintain collective safety.

During the trial operation and maintenance work, the Binjai–Langsa Toll Road will remain accessible as usual. However, road users are encouraged to check the latest traffic conditions before starting their journey.
