MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM Medan Deputy Mayor H. Zakiyuddin Harahap has expressed his full support for the "Padel for All" tournament organized by Beyond Sport Profesional 061. The statement was made during an official audience with representatives of the organization at Medan City Hall on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Zakiyuddin welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive effort to promote a healthy lifestyle while also developing local sports talent in Medan.

He emphasized that the tournament, held as part of Medan's anniversary celebrations, should deliver tangible benefits for the community.

"We fully support this event because it is a very positive sporting activity. We hope that most participants come from Medan so that the public can truly experience this city anniversary moment," said Zakiyuddin Harahap, accompanied by the Head of the Medan Youth and Sports Office, H. Tengku Chairuniza.

He also underlined the importance of youth participation in sports activities to build healthy habits and strengthen regional athletic performance.

Health Screening and MSME Involvement Encouraged

Zakiyuddin further suggested additional support measures during the tournament, including the involvement of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as health screening facilities for participants.

"There is nothing wrong with conducting basic health checks for participants before competing, such as blood pressure tests, to prevent unwanted incidents," he explained.

Anti-Drug and Anti-Online Gambling Campaigns Urged

He also called on organizers to install informational banners addressing key social issues, particularly the prevention of drug abuse and online gambling among young people.

"Banners should be displayed to encourage the public, especially young people, to avoid drugs and online gambling," he added.

200 Teams Set to Compete Over Three Days

Committee chair Saif Adli Heer said the "Padel for All" tournament will be held over three days, from July 10 to 12, 2026, at the Fiftynine venue.

Approximately 200 teams are expected to participate, including a special category for civil servants and contract employees of the Medan City Government. (IDNC)
