BINJAI | INDATANEWS.COM – North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution joined thousands of worshippers in performing the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah prayer on Wednesday morning (May 27, 2026) at Merdeka Square, Binjai. The provincial government designated Binjai as the central location for this year's provincial Eid prayer.
Governor Bobby Nasution attended the prayer alongside North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya and Acting Provincial Secretary Sulaiman Harahap. In the front row were Binjai Mayor Amir Hamzah, Deputy Mayor Hasanul Jihadi, and City Secretary Chairin F. Simanjuntak.Meanwhile, in the women's section, North Sumatra TP PKK Chairperson Kahiyang Ayu was present, accompanied by TP PKK First Advisor Titiek Sugiharti, Chairperson of DWP North Sumatra Evi Novida, as well as Binjai TP PKK Chairperson Nurhayati and TP PKK First Advisor of Binjai Yolanda Febriana. They joined thousands of worshippers who filled the square.

The Eid al-Adha prayer began at 07:15 a.m. local time and proceeded in a calm, orderly, and solemn atmosphere. Merdeka Square was fully packed with worshippers from Binjai and surrounding areas, reflecting strong community participation in the religious celebration.

In his sermon, Prof. HM Jamil delivered a khutbah titled "A Generation with Clear Direction, Pious and Compassionate." He emphasized that Eid al-Adha serves as a measure of faith and a reminder of social solidarity.
He noted that the occasion reflects the profound story of Prophet Ibrahim AS, Prophet Ismail AS, and Siti Hajar as a model family defined by obedience, devotion, and sacrifice."Eid al-Adha is a reconstruction of the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS, Prophet Ismail AS, and Siti Hajar as a family full of exemplary values, obedience, and willingness to sacrifice," he said.
He also urged worshippers to reflect on their lives: "Be the best people in the sight of others and in the sight of Allah SWT."
North Sumatra Distributes 167 Sacrificial Animals
Following the prayer, Governor Bobby Nasution emphasized that Eid al-Adha is an important moment to strengthen social care and solidarity. He confirmed that the North Sumatra Provincial Government distributed a total of 167 sacrificial animals across regencies and cities in the province."The North Sumatra Provincial Government is distributing 167 sacrificial animals to all regions. Today, animals are also being handed over in Binjai," Bobby said.
He also expressed appreciation for the support from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who contributed sacrificial livestock for the region."From President Prabowo Subianto, there are 33 cattle distributed to regencies and cities, plus one for the provincial government. In total, 34 sacrificial animals were contributed to North Sumatra," he added.
Community Gathering and Sacrificial SlaughterAfter the event, Governor Bobby attended a communal gathering with Binjai City Government officials, the Regional Leadership Forum (Forkopimda), religious leaders, and community representatives.
