JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM – Residents of RT 20 in Rajawali, Jambi Timur District, Jambi City, have expressed growing concern over a person with mental health conditions (ODGJ) who has repeatedly disrupted daily activities and local businesses. On Saturday, May 16, 2026, locals reported increasing disturbances affecting both public spaces and commercial activities in the area.
RT 20 head, Levi, said the community has submitted multiple complaints regarding the individual's behavior, which residents consider disruptive and unsettling.
"After we reported the issue to the Kelurahan office, it was immediately forwarded to the sub-district administration. The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the Social Affairs Office (Dinas Sosial) were then involved. The person is currently being searched for," Levi explained.

Disruptions Affecting Shops and Public Spaces
Levi added that the individual frequently enters public areas such as food stalls and grocery shops, causing discomfort among both customers and business owners.
"He often stands inside shops, asking for money, drinks, and cigarettes, which disturbs customers," he said.
Authorities noted that the individual had previously been placed in a rehabilitation facility but was later released after showing signs of recovery.
"At that time, he received treatment and was under social services care. After improving, he was released. Now his condition has relapsed," Levi added.

Traders Feel Intimidated and Urge Action
A shop worker, Sahdia, also reported significant disruptions to daily business operations, stating that many customers now avoid the store due to safety concerns.
"Customers and business owners feel uneasy. He also throws garbage around. At first, we helped him by giving food, drinks, cigarettes, and money, but he kept returning and became increasingly disruptive," she said.
She further noted that the behavior had escalated beyond acceptable limits.
"He even defecated in a roadside food stall. This has gone too far," Sahdia added.
She urged authorities to act swiftly before the situation worsens.
"Reports also mention that he once threw stones at vehicles on Jalan Panglima Polim," she said.
Community Supports Swift Action and Rehabilitation Efforts
Another resident, Dahlia, praised the RT leader for promptly forwarding community complaints to relevant authorities.
She also expressed hope that the individual would receive comprehensive medical and social rehabilitation.
"If possible, he should be fully rehabilitated until he recovers completely," Dahlia said. (IDNC)
