BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM~ Batam Customs has destroyed state assets (BMN) totaling 103.27 tons, valued at approximately IDR 27.5 billion. The destruction took place on Monday, February 9, 2026, at PT Desa Air Cargo. These illegal goods were seized through customs and tax enforcement from 2024 to December 2025.
Destruction Ensures Safety and ComplianceAgung Widodo, Head of Batam Customs, explained that the action is a direct consequence of processing confiscated goods.
"The destruction is intended to ensure that these goods do not re-enter circulation, are not misused, and do not pose health or environmental risks," said Agung.The destroyed goods included millions of illegal cigarettes with a total value of IDR 14.3 billion, along with 2,044 bottles and several canisters of alcoholic beverages worth over IDR 827 million. Approximately 904 packages of used clothing and shoes, weighing around 18.6 tons and valued at IDR 1.79 billion, were also part of the destruction.
Additionally, Batam Customs disposed of about 240 kilograms of electronic items worth IDR 516 million, as well as nearly 45 tons of food, beverages, and staple goods valued at almost IDR 5 billion. Household furniture and fixtures weighing around 30 tons, worth IDR 3.26 billion, were also destroyed. The operation included machinery parts, medical devices, cosmetics, toys, and other miscellaneous items totaling 2.6 tons and valued at IDR 1.6 billion.Close Collaboration with Law Enforcement
Agung emphasized that the destruction was made possible through close cooperation between Batam Customs, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant institutions."We thank the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) via KPKNL Batam and all parties involved for supporting this action," Agung added.
