Police Follow Public Reports Through Targeted Action

The search operation began at approximately 5:30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time and was coordinated by IPDA Safaruddin Ritonga, Head of Investigation Unit I of the Kotapinang Police Criminal Investigation Division.

The operation involved several police units, including Criminal Investigation Division personnel, Bhabinkamtibmas officers, and the head of the local Bedagai administrative unit.

Officers inspected a residential building that, according to local residents, was allegedly used regularly as a place for consuming methamphetamine.

During the search, officers discovered several items that were initially suspected to be related to drug abuse activities. The confiscated items included two empty transparent plastic clips, one perforated plastic cup, and four lighters.

All discovered items were secured by officers and documented for further investigation. Police are currently conducting additional inquiries to determine the background and possible links to illegal narcotics activities.

The operation demonstrates that police are not only responding to public complaints but are also actively taking preventive measures against suspected drug abuse and illegal narcotics distribution.

Prevention and Public Awareness Remain a Priority

In addition to conducting the search, Kotapinang Police officers also emphasized preventive efforts. Residents were encouraged to remain alert to suspicious activities in their surroundings and to actively participate in maintaining public safety.

The community was urged to reject all forms of drug abuse and immediately report information related to possible illegal narcotics activities to law enforcement authorities.

The South Labuhanbatu Police Chief, AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring Muham., S.I.K., through the Acting Kotapinang Police Chief, AKP Maruli Tua Siregar, S.H., M.H., stated that cooperation between police and the public is a key factor in combating drug-related crimes.

"The role of the community is very important in breaking the chain of illegal drug distribution. We appreciate every citizen who has the courage to provide information. Every report will be handled professionally by us. We invite all elements of society to work together to protect the environment so it does not become a place for drug abuse or illegal distribution," said AKP Maruli.

He emphasized that the Gerebek Sarang Narkoba activities were not solely focused on law enforcement. Police are combining these actions with education, counseling, and preventive approaches to increase public awareness.

Through this approach, the public is expected to better understand the long-term dangers of narcotics, especially their impact on families, social environments, and the future of the younger generation.

Police Strengthen Implementation of P4GN Program

Through regular operations of this kind, police aim to limit the space for drug users and illegal networks. At the same time, residents are encouraged to increase awareness and work together with authorities to maintain security and public order in their communities.

The South Labuhanbatu Police continue to prioritize close cooperation between security forces, local authorities, and the community. This collective effort is expected to strengthen South Labuhanbatu Regency against the threat of narcotics and protect the younger generation from the dangers of drug abuse. (IDNC)
