ACEH TENGAH | INDAANEWS.COM – The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Aceh Tengah Police, through its Special Crime Unit (Tipidter), installed warning signs on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in several high-risk areas in Linge District to combat illegal gold mining activities, locally known as Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin (PETI). The initiative aims to suppress unlawful mining operations while strengthening preventive measures in the region.
Warning Signs Placed in Three High-Risk Villages
The operation was directly led by Tipidter Unit Head Aipda Fauzi Hakim, together with investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit and officers from the Linge Police Sector. The installation began at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) and was completed later that day.

Authorities placed the warning signs in Kala Ili, Lumut, and Gemboyah villages, all under the jurisdiction of the Linge Police Sector. Additional signs were also installed at public facilities and along riverbanks identified as potential hotspots for illegal gold mining activities.

Public Awareness Campaign on Environmental Risks

Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq stated that the initiative is part of a broader public awareness campaign aimed at educating residents on the legal consequences and environmental damage caused by illegal mining.
"Through the installation of these signs, we hope the public will better understand the negative impacts of PETI and know how to respond if they encounter such activities," he said.
