LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The commitment of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police in combating various forms of social disorder has once again produced concrete results. During the Pekat Toba Operation 2026, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police uncovered a suspected illegal gambling case involving Toto Gelap (Togel), which was one of the main targets of the operation.
A 63-year-old man identified by the initials JS was arrested by police officers for allegedly being involved in Togel gambling activities. Authorities also seized several pieces of evidence believed to be related to the illegal gambling operation.The arrest took place on Monday, July 27, 2026, at around 6:05 p.m. WIB on Jalan Bis II, Wonosari Hamlet, Torgamba District, South Labuhanbatu Regency. The police conducted the operation after receiving reports from residents regarding suspected gambling activities that had disturbed the local community.
The operation to uncover the case was led by IPTU Chaidir Suhartono. The Satreskrim team of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police immediately moved to the location after receiving information from residents.
Officers initially carried out an investigation to verify the accuracy of the report. After finding indications of gambling activities, police took action and arrested JS, who was allegedly involved in facilitating Togel gambling transactions.At the scene, investigators confiscated several pieces of evidence, including cash amounting to Rp345,000, a torn sheet of paper containing Togel number combinations, and a Vivo mobile phone.
Police suspected that the mobile phone had been used as a communication tool for gambling transactions. During the initial examination, officers found several gambling orders sent through the WhatsApp application. All evidence was secured for further investigation.Following the arrest, JS and the confiscated items were taken to the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Headquarters for further examination. Investigators are applying Articles 426 and 427 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) in relation to the alleged gambling offense.
According to him, gambling can negatively affect social life, as well as threaten public security and order.
"We will continue to take firm action against all forms of gambling activities that disturb the community. We also encourage residents to provide information if they discover gambling activities in their surroundings," said AKBP Rosef Efendi.AKBP Rosef Efendi emphasized that the successful disclosure of the case could not be separated from active public support through information submitted to the police.
He considered cooperation between the community and law enforcement authorities as an important factor in maintaining a safe and stable Security and Public Order (Kamtibmas) situation.Meanwhile, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, AKP Eriks Raydikson Nainggolan, explained that the case was uncovered following information from residents regarding suspicious gambling activities in Torgamba District.
"Every piece of information from the public will be followed up. The Satreskrim of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police will continue efforts to eradicate gambling and other crimes in order to maintain a safe and stable Kamtibmas situation," he said.
The disclosure of the Togel gambling case represents a concrete implementation of the Pekat Toba Operation 2026. The police operation aims to suppress various social issues, including gambling, gang-related crimes, illegal alcohol distribution, prostitution, and other criminal activities that could threaten public security.The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police continues to view gambling as a serious issue because the activity not only violates the law but may also create social and economic impacts on the community.
