SAMOSIR | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Samosir Regency Government recorded tourism-generated revenue of Rp2.26 billion from 16 managed destinations during the extended 2026 Nyepi and Idulfitri holiday period.
The revenue was accumulated over 12 days, from March 18 to March 29, 2026, in line with a significant surge in tourist arrivals across the region's top attractions.
Surge in Tourist Arrivals
Head of the Samosir Culture and Tourism Office, Tetty Naibaho, reported that a total of 145,807 visitors flocked to the 16 government-managed tourist sites.Major contributors to the region's locally generated revenue (PAD) included leading destinations such as the Pangururan Waterfront Waterpark, Tele Panorama, and Efrata Waterfall.
Key income-generating sites are spread across several strategic districts within the regency. The Pangururan Waterfront Waterpark, located in the heart of the regency's capital, serves as a central attraction along Lake Toba.
Meanwhile, Tele Panorama—also known as the Tele Observation Tower—is situated in the highlands of Harian District, offering breathtaking views of Lake Toba, complemented by modern facilities such as a skywalk and 360-degree photo spots.Efrata Waterfall, located in Sosor Dolok Village approximately 20 kilometers from Pangururan, is often visited in combination with trips to the Tele area.
According to Naibaho, the sharp rise in tourist numbers has had a positive impact on the local economy, particularly benefiting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as accommodation providers, including hotels and homestays.
The regional government had also conducted extensive training programs ahead of the holiday season to ensure service quality, including fair pricing practices."During the holiday period, there were no complaints from tourists, either regarding restaurant prices or accommodation rates," she said.
The Samosir Government hopes this positive trend will continue and serve as a catalyst for strengthening the tourism sector as a key pillar of the regional economy. (IDNC)
