READY FOR PEAK TRAVEL DEMAND: PT Railink provides 107,968 seats for airport train services in North Sumatra to accommodate increased travel demand during Eid al-Adha 2026.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM PT Railink, the operator of airport railway services under KAI Bandara, is ramping up operations ahead of the expected surge in passenger demand during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday period of 2026.

From May 26 to June 1, 2026, the company has prepared a total of 107,968 seats to serve airport train routes across North Sumatra, aiming to ensure smooth mobility during the peak travel season.

The service is expected to support increased passenger flows, particularly on routes connecting urban centers and the airport.

Focus on Srilelawangsa Routes

The additional capacity will primarily be deployed on the Srilelawangsa line, which operates key routes between Medan – Kualanamu International Airport and Medan – Binjai – Kuala Bingai.

According to PT Railink, all operational and service systems have been fully prepared to ensure safe, comfortable, and punctual travel for passengers throughout the holiday period.

"We have prepared 107,968 seats for airport train services in North Sumatra to accommodate the expected increase in passenger volume during Eid al-Adha 2026. We are committed to maintaining optimal operations, service quality, and passenger comfort," said PT Railink President Director Porwanto Handry Nugroho.

Rising Confidence in Rail Transport

During the extended Ascension Day holiday period from May 13 to 17, 2026, KAI Bandara recorded a total of 63,592 passengers across its services.

Of that figure, 21,693 passengers traveled on the Medan–Kualanamu route, while 41,899 passengers used the Medan–Binjai–Kuala Bingai line.

The company noted that these figures reflect growing public trust in airport rail services as an efficient, comfortable, and integrated transportation option.

Travel Guidance for Passengers

PT Railink encourages passengers to plan their trips in advance and use airport rail services as a practical transport option to Kualanamu International Airport.

Passengers are also advised to arrive early at the airport—at least three hours before international departures and two hours before domestic flights—and to pay attention to their luggage. The "Lost and Found" service is available for assistance if needed.
