She also called for broader marketing opportunities and increased competitiveness for Indonesian handicraft products. According to Selvi, the handicraft industry is not solely about economic products. It also plays a role in preserving cultural heritage and supporting the economic development of communities.
This message is particularly relevant to regions with rich handicraft traditions and cultural heritage, such as Deli Serdang. The development of handicraft products can go hand in hand with the preservation of cultural values when artisans adapt their work to changing consumer preferences and market demands.Kriyanusa 2026 also embraces the idea of preserving cultural heritage through creativity and innovation. The use of digital technology is an important component in expanding the reach of Indonesian artisans' work. At the same time, innovative designs and continued product development can make traditional handicrafts more appealing to consumers across different groups and generations.Selvi emphasized that cultural preservation must go hand in hand with creativity and innovation. Tradition remains the foundation of identity, while innovation and technology can help cultural works adapt to changing times.
"Preserving culture does not mean that we remain in the past. Tradition is the root of our identity, but innovation, creativity, and digital transformation must be the wings that allow us to soar onto the global stage," she said. The participation of Dekranasda Deli Serdang in Kriyanusa 2026 is part of efforts to further promote the products of regional artisans at the national level.
