MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – Polrestabes Medan has significantly stepped up its anti-crime operations across the city, achieving substantial investigative results. The findings were presented during a press conference held at the police headquarters parade ground on Monday, May 4, 2026.

Among them are 16 repeat offenders and seven individuals linked to multiple criminal cases. In 13 high-risk incidents, 19 suspects were brought under control after resisting arrest, with police describing the actions as "targeted and proportionate."
"We are committed to providing a safe environment for the people of Medan. Street crime and drugs remain our top priorities. There is no space for organized crime or gambling in this city," said Kombes Jean Calvijn.

The most significant enforcement focus remains narcotics-related offenses. Police recorded 119 drug cases involving 147 suspects. Seized evidence included 2.3 kilograms of methamphetamine, 104.52 grams of cannabis, 24,570 ecstasy tablets, and 1,790 narcotic-laced vape cartridges.
In addition, 117 street crime cases involving 124 suspects were solved. Authorities also handled six cases related to illegal gambling and street-level extortion, resulting in nine arrests.
Recovered Vehicles Returned to Victims
A notable moment during the event was the return of confiscated vehicles to their rightful owners. In total, police secured 129 motorcycles, one three-wheeled rickshaw (becak), and one car linked to criminal activities."Residents who have lost their vehicles can contact Polrestabes Medan. After ownership verification, the vehicles will be returned free of charge," the police chief stated.

Security in Medan is also being reinforced through coordinated efforts between the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the municipal government. TNI representatives announced joint patrol initiatives, while city officials welcomed the operations as a positive step toward improving public safety.
