CLARIFICATION ON BRIBERY ALLEGATIONS: The Nias Selatan Prosecutor’s Office firmly denies claims of an alleged Rp300 million payment in the SPPD case.

NIAS SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM The Nias Selatan District Prosecutor's Office has firmly denied reports alleging a payment of Rp300 million related to the handling of a travel expense (SPPD) case involving the Regional Secretary. The institution labeled the circulating claims as baseless and lacking factual evidence.

Head of the Nias Selatan Prosecutor's Office, Edmond Novvery Purba, S.H., M.H., stated on Saturday (May 2, 2026) that all investigations into public complaints concerning SPPD cases are conducted professionally, transparently, and in full compliance with the law.

"The information is incorrect. We ensure that every handling of public complaint cases related to official travel expenses is carried out according to applicable regulations with full transparency," Edmond told reporters.

He further emphasized that the institution upholds integrity and accountability at every stage of legal proceedings. According to him, unverified allegations may distort public perception and interfere with the work of law enforcement agencies.

Administrative Review of SPPD Cases

Edmond explained that the handling of public complaints related to SPPD primarily involves administrative reviews. During the process, discrepancies in the form of overpayments were identified and subsequently corrected in accordance with established procedures.

"The focus is on correcting public financial administration. All steps are carried out transparently and under clear regulatory frameworks," he added.

Call for Responsible Information Sharing

The Prosecutor's Office also urged the public to submit suspicions through official channels and supported by valid evidence. The spread of unverified information, it warned, could harm both institutions and individuals.

Edmond encouraged the public to critically verify information and avoid being influenced by rumors, while reaffirming the office's openness to constructive criticism within the legal framework.

Former Regional Secretary's Clarification

In a separate written statement, former Regional Secretary of Nias Selatan, Ir. Ikhtiar Duha, M.M., confirmed that he had returned a total of Rp45.2 million to the regional government treasury. The repayment was related to reimbursement of accommodation costs under several regional regulations in September 2025.

He also clarified that he had never made any financial payments to the Nias Selatan Prosecutor's Office. (IDNC)
