JAMBI POLICE AND BNN INSPECT NIGHTCLUBS FOR DRUGS: Joint personnel from Jambi Police and the Jambi Provincial BNN Office inspect Helen and Blackjack Pub & KTV during an enhanced routine operation on Saturday night, 18 October 2026. The operation aims to prevent drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - Jambi Police, working alongside the Jambi Provincial Office of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), have conducted a joint inspection operation to prevent drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in nightclubs. During the operation on Saturday night, 18 October 2026, officers inspected Helen and Blackjack Pub & KTV in Jambi City.

The Enhanced Routine Activity (KRYD) involved personnel from the Jambi Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, the Samapta General Policing Unit and the internal disciplinary unit, alongside a team from the Jambi Provincial BNN Office. Jambi Police Chief Police Commissioner Ananto Herlambang personally led the operation. The head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, Police Senior Commissioner Tito Al Hafezt, also joined officers in carrying out the inspections on site.

The officers targeted the nightclubs to detect possible drug abuse at an early stage and restrict opportunities for individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade. Their presence was also part of broader efforts to maintain public safety and order across Jambi City.

Jambi Police Chief Police Commissioner Ananto Herlambang stressed that the weekend operation demonstrated the police's determination to combat drug abuse. It was also intended to prevent nightclubs from becoming venues for illegal drug transactions.

"We are carrying out these enhanced routine operations to ensure that nightclubs do not become centres of drug trafficking. Together with the BNN, we are conducting on-site inspections and urine tests while keeping the premises under close surveillance. Jambi must be drug-free. Maintaining public safety and order is non-negotiable," the Jambi Police Chief said.

Identity Checks, Searches and Urine Tests

During the operation, officers checked the identity documents of nightclub patrons and employees. The joint team also searched individuals and their belongings to detect possible possession of narcotics or other items that could be linked to criminal activity.

In addition to physical searches, officers conducted urine tests on selected patrons. The joint team also inspected several areas considered potential locations for drug abuse or transactions, including toilets, VIP rooms and other parts of the nightclubs.

The measures were designed to strengthen surveillance of establishments that attract large numbers of people, particularly at night. Through direct inspections, officers sought to identify possible signs of drug abuse and take appropriate action if they found indications of legal violations.

According to the operation report, all patrons who underwent urine tests returned negative results. Police said they would act in accordance with applicable laws if positive test results or other evidence indicated involvement in drug abuse or trafficking.

The negative results were an important outcome of the nighttime operation. Nevertheless, police emphasised that continuous monitoring remained necessary. Effective drug prevention requires regular inspections, public participation and close cooperation between the relevant authorities.

Police Warn Nightclubs of Firm Action Over Drug Links

The head of the Jambi Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Police Senior Commissioner Tito Al Hafezt, made clear that the authorities would show no tolerance towards nightclubs proven to have facilitated or supported drug trafficking. Police were also considering seeking the closure of an establishment if the investigation findings and available evidence provided sufficient legal grounds for such action.

"We are serious about this. We will take firm action against nightclubs proven to have facilitated drug trafficking. We will even seek their closure. There is no place for drugs in Jambi City," Police Senior Commissioner Tito Al Hafezt said.

The statement underlined that the inspections were not directed solely at individuals. Authorities were also examining possible links between nightclub operators and activities associated with drug trafficking. However, any action must remain grounded in inspection findings, available evidence and applicable legal provisions.

The joint operation by the Jambi Police Narcotics Investigation Unit and the Jambi Provincial BNN Office also received public support. Residents hope the authorities will continue monitoring nightclubs suspected of being used for drug transactions and follow up on credible reports.

The police presence during the operation also helped strengthen the sense of security among people who want an environment free from drug abuse. Cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the public is an important part of prevention efforts, particularly in places where people gather until late at night.

Further Inspections Planned as Public Urged to Report Suspected Drug Activity

Jambi Police announced that enhanced routine activities (KRYD) would continue regularly and without prior notice. The strategy is intended to improve the effectiveness of surveillance, prevent suspected offenders from anticipating inspections and further restrict opportunities for drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

Police also urged the public to provide information about suspected drug transactions in nightclubs or within their neighbourhoods. Residents can report such information through the police hotline on 110.

Public participation is an important part of efforts to break the cycle of drug trafficking. Information from residents can help the authorities initiate further inspections and investigations in accordance with established procedures.

Through joint operations, regular inspections and public support, Jambi Police and the Jambi Provincial BNN Office aim to strengthen drug prevention while maintaining public safety and order. Police stressed that these measures would continue to ensure that nightclubs do not become venues for drug abuse or illicit drug trafficking. (IDNC)
