LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The commitment of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police in combating illegal drug trafficking has once again produced results. Following information from the public, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kampung Rakyat Police Sector successfully uncovered an alleged methamphetamine trafficking case in Teluk Panji II Village, Kampung Rakyat District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
During the operation, officers arrested a 35-year-old man identified by the initials AGN, also known as Andi, who is suspected of being involved in the distribution of illegal narcotics. Police also seized several pieces of evidence allegedly linked to the suspected criminal activity.The incident occurred on Monday, July 27, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m. WIB. The successful investigation highlights the important role of cooperation between the community and law enforcement authorities in limiting the activities of drug networks that have caused concern among residents.
The suspect, who works as a self-employed individual and is a resident of Teluk Panji Village, was found in possession of six packets suspected to contain methamphetamine, with a total gross weight of 2.17 grams.In addition to the suspected narcotics, police confiscated Rp300,000 in cash, which was allegedly obtained from drug transactions, a digital scale believed to have been used to measure methamphetamine before distribution, a Honda Supra X motorcycle, and a Xiaomi mobile phone. Investigators stated that these items may be related to the suspect's activities and are currently being examined further.
"After receiving information from the public, I instructed the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit IPDA Apma Aldon Pulungan, S.H., M.H., along with his team, to conduct an investigation at the reported location. After surveillance, officers identified a man matching the reported description. The arrest and search were then carried out," said AKP Ilham.
During the search, officers discovered five small plastic packets containing suspected methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1.25 grams. They also found one medium-sized plastic packet containing suspected methamphetamine weighing 0.92 grams, which was stored inside a brown wallet belonging to AGN.Police then secured all evidence, including the suspected drugs, cash allegedly linked to drug transactions, a digital scale believed to have been used for weighing methamphetamine before sale, a motorcycle suspected of being used as transportation, and a mobile phone to support the ongoing investigation.
During initial questioning at the arrest location, AGN admitted that the items found by officers belonged to him. The suspect was subsequently taken along with all evidence to the Kampung Rakyat Police Station for further investigation before the case is transferred to the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police in accordance with applicable legal procedures."Public trust is a major support for us in the fight against drug trafficking. We urge all residents not to hesitate and to report cases of drug abuse or illegal distribution in their surroundings. The identity of informants will be protected," he stated.
The Kampung Rakyat Police Chief said that officers would continue maintaining communication channels with the community to receive information regarding activities that could disrupt security and public order.According to him, the growing circulation of illegal drugs in rural areas remains a serious challenge for law enforcement. Drug offenders continue to use various methods to avoid detection and maintain their illegal operations.
AKP Ilham added that handling narcotics-related crimes remains one of the police's priorities because the impact does not only harm offenders but also threatens the future of young people, disrupts social order, and endangers community security.
