DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan visited UPT SPF SMP Negeri 5 Tanjung Morawa on Monday, July 20, 2026, to directly observe the learning process and monitor the development of students' talents and interests through various extracurricular activities.
The visit was part of the Deli Serdang Regency Government's efforts to ensure that educational institutions provide a comfortable, safe, and supportive learning environment while strengthening students' character development and potential.Accompanied by Deli Serdang Education Agency Head Suparno, the Regent interacted directly with students and watched various extracurricular performances. The activities showcased included scouting, the Student Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibra), football, traditional dances, and musical performances.
During the occasion, Asri Ludin also held discussions with students. He encouraged them and appreciated their creativity and abilities, which continue to grow through positive activities within the school environment.
Asri Ludin emphasized that extracurricular activities play an important role in shaping students' character. In his view, schools are not only places to gain academic knowledge but also spaces where students can develop their skills, creativity, and social relationships.
"We want schools to become a second home for our children. In addition to learning, schools should be places where they can express their creativity, improve their abilities, and participate in positive activities together with their friends," he said.He explained that an active school environment with various positive programs provides students with opportunities to discover and develop their talents.
Furthermore, creative and productive school activities can help prevent various negative influences that may threaten the development of the younger generation.He stressed that schools with comfortable and supportive environments can help keep students away from negative behaviors, including drug abuse and involvement in motorcycle gangs.
Therefore, Asri Ludin called on the Deli Serdang Education Agency to continue encouraging all junior high schools (SMP) to create a pleasant learning atmosphere supported by adequate infrastructure and facilities.According to him, schools must become places where students feel safe and comfortable. Students should not only come to attend classes but also enjoy various activities that support personality development and talent growth outside classroom hours.
He urged relevant institutions to continue paying attention to school facility needs so that the teaching and learning process can run optimally, while students receive sufficient space to develop their interests and talents.
"I hope all SMP schools in Deli Serdang can move together in the same direction. Prepare the necessary facilities and fulfill school needs so that children feel comfortable. Make schools a second home that they always want to visit," Asri Ludin said.By strengthening the school environment and promoting extracurricular activities, the Deli Serdang Government expects students to grow into a generation with strong character, creativity, and the ability to face future challenges.
