MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Indonesia's state-owned pawnbroking company, PT Pegadaian, is showcasing the benefits of digital financial services at the Tring! Festival, held in the atrium of Sun Plaza shopping centre in Medan. The event marks the first anniversary of Tring!, Pegadaian's digital application designed to make the company's range of services more accessible to the public through a single platform.
Under the slogan "Tenang Saja Mulai Dari Tring!" (Stay Relaxed – Start with Tring!), Pegadaian is encouraging the public to embrace digital technology to access financial services more easily, quickly and securely. Through the application, customers can carry out various transactions, including investments, gold instalment purchases, gold savings plans, checking current gold prices and accessing information about product sales.Yohanis Wulang, Head of PT Pegadaian's Regional Office 1 in Medan, said the Tring! Festival offered members of the public, particularly in North Sumatra and Aceh, an opportunity to learn more about the company's services and products. The event also enables visitors to obtain clear and accessible information about available products, prices and transaction procedures.
"With the Tring application, people no longer need to spend so much time visiting a branch. They can carry out a wide range of transactions through the app, including investments, gold purchases by instalment, gold savings plans, information about product sales and price movements, as well as other services," Yohanis said at the opening of the festival in the atrium of Sun Plaza in Medan. The introduction of digital services reflects Pegadaian's efforts to broaden public access to financial products. Through the application, users can obtain information and complete transactions without having to visit a branch every time they need a service.
The Tring! Festival not only showcases digital services but also highlights the importance of financial literacy in helping people make better-informed financial decisions. To support this objective, Pegadaian is organising a financial literacy seminar featuring speakers from Indonesia's Financial Services Authority, known as Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), and Pegadaian.
The seminar aims to improve public understanding of financial products, particularly investment instruments and services that can have long-term financial implications. Adequate knowledge is essential to help consumers assess a product's benefits and risks, as well as determine whether it suits their individual needs and financial circumstances. The event also addresses challenges that require continued attention in efforts to improve financial literacy. A high level of formal education does not necessarily mean that someone fully understands the characteristics of financial products. For this reason, information about benefits, costs, risks and contractual terms must go hand in hand with efforts to expand access to financial services.
Yohanis emphasised the importance of public information sessions on investment, particularly during Financial Inclusion Month, which is observed every October. According to him, various financial institutions and the OJK organise educational activities in numerous regions during this period to strengthen public financial knowledge."This investment seminar is important. Banks and other financial institutions are making similar efforts in October as part of Financial Inclusion Month. The OJK will also continue to organise various financial events in regencies and cities," Yohanis said.
Pegadaian hopes the public will use financial products not merely because transactions are convenient, but also with a proper understanding of how those products work. Financial literacy is an important foundation for making investment decisions that reflect individual goals, needs and risk tolerance.
The programme also includes drawing and cooking competitions, making the festival more attractive to a wider audience. In addition, Pegadaian is offering visitors a free gold-cleaning service. People who own gold jewellery can bring their items to the venue to have them cleaned.
According to Yohanis, the festival runs for five days, with opening hours from 10 am to 9 pm each day. This gives interested visitors ample time to attend, explore the products on offer and participate in the activities."The event runs for five days, from 10 am until 9 pm every day, so there is plenty of time to visit. Anyone who owns gold should take the opportunity to bring it to the Tring! Festival, where we are also providing a free gold-cleaning service," Yohanis added.
The Tring! Festival therefore serves not only as a platform for promoting products but also as an opportunity for direct engagement between Pegadaian and the public. Visitors can discover the company's services, learn about financing products and gain a better understanding of the financial instruments available to them.Strong visitor interest was evident on the first day of the event. People from different backgrounds took the opportunity to learn about digital services and financial products. The festival also allows Pegadaian to introduce its information and educational services to shopping centre visitors who may have had limited exposure to the Tring! application.

Also present was Reza Leonhard, Deputy Director for the Supervision of Financial Services Provider Conduct, Consumer Education and Consumer Protection at the OJK's North Sumatra Regional Office. The participation of representatives from Pegadaian and the financial regulator underlines the link between digital service development, consumer education and efforts to improve public understanding of financial products.
Digitalisation gives financial institutions new opportunities to reach more people through convenient and accessible services. At the same time, easier access must be accompanied by a better understanding of transaction security, product terms and potential financial risks.Through the Tring! Festival, Pegadaian combines the introduction of digital technology with financial education and direct engagement with the public. This approach demonstrates that digital services can do more than speed up transactions: they can also make information more accessible, helping people make informed financial decisions.
Yohanis hopes Tring! will enable people to use Pegadaian's services more conveniently in the future. The company is also encouraging the public to familiarise themselves with the application's various features and use them according to their individual needs."With our new slogan, #TenangSaja Mulai dari Tring!, we hope people will enjoy a simpler, faster and more secure service through the Tring application," Yohanis said.
