LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM Member of the North Sumatra Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD) from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Dedi Iskandar, has once again highlighted the importance of national values amid growing information challenges and social complexity.

The initiative took place during a Pancasila Ideology and National Awareness outreach event held on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Simaninggir, Kota Pinang District. The program aimed to reinforce civic understanding and unity at the grassroots level.

The event was attended by PKS DPD Labuhanbatu Selatan Chairman Supriyanto and Secretary Zainul Arifin, reflecting the party's commitment to preserving national principles within local communities.

Dedi urged residents to strengthen social cohesion amid the increasing spread of unreliable information. He emphasized that collective awareness is essential to prevent societal division caused by fake news.

"The most important thing today is how we keep this country stable and in good condition. One way is by strengthening national awareness so people are not easily influenced by misinformation," he stated.

Dedi also raised concerns over serious threats facing the younger generation, particularly drug abuse and the rising prevalence of online gambling. He stressed that these issues not only harm individuals but also endanger the nation's future.

In the political context, he noted that PKS currently holds one seat in the Labuhanbatu Selatan DPRD, representing the Silangkitang and Sungai Kanan electoral districts. Despite limited representation, the party remains committed to serving the public.

Advocacy for People with Disabilities

The event took a more personal turn when Dedi Iskandar engaged in a direct dialogue with a person with disabilities, Akhir Siagian. The conversation brought a warm and human touch to the political gathering.

Akhir Siagian shared his basic needs, including mobility assistance and support for small business activities. He requested a wheelchair as well as tools for sewing and shoe repair to support his economic independence.

"With the presence of Mr. Dedi Iskandar, we truly hope our needs can be fulfilled. We believe he can represent our concerns," he said.

Akhir Siagian emphasized that people with disabilities continue to face significant challenges, particularly in accessing infrastructure, services, and employment opportunities. He stressed that lawmakers must act as a bridge between public needs and government programs.

He concluded that national development should not only focus on infrastructure but also ensure social justice for all citizens, noting that small and sincere efforts can collectively create a lasting impact on society. (IDNC)
