DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government officially launched the Kampung Berkah Kasih Stunting program in Percut Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The program represents a strategic step by the local government to strengthen stunting prevention efforts through an integrated approach that combines health improvement, environmental enhancement, and better housing conditions for residents.
The inauguration of Kampung Berkah Kasih Stunting was held alongside the handover of keys to eight residents' houses that had been renovated under the housing improvement program, transforming them into healthier and more livable homes. In addition, the government carried out various improvements to environmental facilities and infrastructure in the area to create a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable living environment.Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan, accompanied by Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo SS, stated that Kampung Berkah Kasih Stunting was the result of collaboration among various institutions. The program provides solutions that not only address child growth problems caused by stunting but also consider social and environmental factors affecting the community's quality of life.
"This is the result of a joint transformation and restructuring effort in a residential area that was previously considered problematic. The agencies involved include the Housing and Settlement Agency (Perkim), SDABMBK, CKTR, the Health Office, Cooperative Office, Manpower Office, Social Affairs Office, Education Office, Family Planning Agency, PMD, DLH, Fire Department, Fisheries Office, Tax Office, Ketapang, and other related institutions," he said.In Percut Village, a total of six stunting cases among children were recorded. Of this number, one child has shown positive progress and is no longer categorized as affected by stunting.
According to Asri Ludin, the program in Desa Percut serves as the first step toward developing a model for revitalizing problematic residential areas through multi-sector cooperation. The local government hopes that this initiative can become a reference for other areas across Deli Serdang Regency."This is the first form of joint collaboration in Deli Serdang to eliminate problematic residential areas, with Desa Percut serving as the driving force. We hope the efforts implemented here can become an example for the other 21 problematic areas throughout Deli Serdang," he stated.
He added that the success of the program does not depend solely on government development projects but also on public awareness in maintaining and properly utilizing the facilities that have been provided."Everything that has been built today is being handed over to the people of Desa Percut, including the children's playground area. Please take care of it. If conditions continue to improve in the future, we will carry out further improvements," Asri Ludin said.

Asri Ludin emphasized that the various development programs implemented by the government are not the final objective but rather serve as encouragement and support for residents to collectively improve their quality of life.
"This is only an encouragement and support so that residents can improve their own living conditions. No situation can change unless the community itself participates in making that change happen," he emphasized.During the event, the Regent also expressed appreciation for the support of the Deli Serdang Land Office, which assisted in the process of issuing land certificates for beneficiaries of the housing renovation program.
According to him, legal certainty regarding land ownership is an important element in providing security for residents, especially those who have received housing improvements through government programs.
The Deli Serdang Government is also preparing further efforts to reorganize the area, including plans to regulate buildings located along riverbanks. The initiative aims to create a safer, more orderly, and more comfortable environment for residents.
