LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The theft of two mobile phones from a resident's house on Jalan El Firdaus, Cinta Makmur Hamlet, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, has been solved. Investigators from the Torgamba Police Station acted swiftly after receiving a report from the victim and arrested two young men who are allegedly involved in the theft and in helping dispose of the stolen property.
Police arrested PNS, alias PANCA, 25, and DGA, alias DIR, 24. Both men were arrested early Saturday morning, September 5, 2026, in the Torgamba District area after officers conducted a series of investigations to identify the alleged perpetrators and secure evidence.The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief, AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., said during an interview at the Torgamba Police Station on Sunday, September 6, 2026, that the case began with a citizen's report concerning the disappearance of two mobile phones.
"After receiving the report, officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit immediately examined the crime scene, questioned the victim and witnesses, and gathered information to determine the identity of the perpetrator and the whereabouts of the evidence," AKP Sunipan Gurusinga said.The victim subsequently reported the loss to police. The report became the starting point for investigators from the Torgamba Police Station to trace the suspect's movements and determine the whereabouts of the stolen property.
Officers then conducted an investigation by collecting statements from the victim and witnesses, as well as other information related to the case. During the investigation, police received information that one of the victim's mobile phones had been pawned.The information about the pawned mobile phone became an important lead for investigators. Police subsequently expanded their investigation until the trail led to DGA, alias DIR.
The Torgamba Police Criminal Investigation Unit's task force narrowed the search and obtained information about DGA's whereabouts. Acting on the orders of the Torgamba Police Chief, the head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, IPTU Rajo Irawan Hamonangan, S.H., M.H., led the team in making the arrest.At around 12:30 a.m. WIB on Saturday, September 5, 2026, officers arrested DGA, alias DIR, in Cikampak Pekan Hamlet, Aek Batu Village.
During the initial questioning, DGA admitted to being involved in the case. However, he claimed that he was not the main perpetrator of the theft. According to his statement, he had helped sell the two mobile phones after they had been stolen by his accomplice, PNS, alias PANCA.
Police immediately followed up on DGA's statement to determine PNS's whereabouts. Officers received information that PNS was in the Simpang 4 area of Aek Batu Village.
At around 4:45 a.m. WIB, officers went to the location and arrested PNS, alias PANCA.During the initial questioning, PNS admitted to stealing the two mobile phones from the victim's house. He allegedly entered the house using a tool and subsequently took the victim's belongings.
After obtaining the two mobile phones, PNS contacted DGA. PNS asked DGA to help sell the stolen mobile phones to other people.As part of the investigation, police recovered two mobile phones as evidence. They were one Vivo mobile phone and one OPPO mobile phone.
The two suspects are currently being held at the Torgamba Police Station while undergoing further investigation. Police have taken various steps in handling the case, including recording the police report, completing the investigation files, questioning witnesses and suspects, conducting a case conference, and confiscating the evidence.Based on the investigation so far, police believe the motive for the theft was related to economic difficulties.
Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga emphasized that the investigation into the case has not yet been completed. Investigators are not only focusing on the arrest of the two suspects but are also tracing the entire sequence of events, including the movement of the stolen property.
"The resolution of this case is the result of our officers' swift action after receiving the citizen's report. We will continue to expand the investigation to ensure that the entire sequence of events, including the movement of the stolen property, is fully uncovered," AKP Sunipan Gurusinga said.The resolution of the case also serves as a reminder to the public to improve the security of their homes, particularly at night and during the early morning hours. Homes with inadequate security measures can be targeted by criminals when residents are unaware or inattentive.
