LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Officers from the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Narcotics Unit arrested two men suspected of being involved in crystal methamphetamine trafficking on Monday afternoon, August 10, 2026, in Tanjung Medan Village, Kampung Rakyat District, Labuhanbatu Selatan. During the operation, police seized a total of 4.12 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine by gross weight, along with several items allegedly linked to drug trafficking.
The two men arrested were IS alias Imran, 38, and YM alias Yuda, 30. Police arrested both men after following up on information from members of the public regarding a suspected drug transaction in the Tanjung Medan area. The information was received through Dumas Presisi, the Indonesian National Police's official public complaint and reporting system, as well as reports published by online media. Officers from the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Narcotics Unit subsequently conducted an investigation to verify the reports and examine the suspected crystal methamphetamine trafficking activities.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Narcotics Unit Chief AKP Sahat Marulam Lumban Gaol, S.H., said information from the public was an important starting point for police efforts to uncover suspected drug trafficking."Information from the public is one of our starting points for conducting investigations. After monitoring and carrying out further inquiries, officers moved in and were eventually able to arrest two people who were allegedly involved," AKP Sahat said on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at his office at the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Headquarters. Also present during the interview was Public Relations Division Chief AKP Sujono.
After receiving the initial information, officers from the Narcotics Unit monitored and investigated the Tanjung Medan area. The investigation eventually led them to IS alias Imran.
Police searched Imran and a location that was allegedly used repeatedly for drug consumption. During the search, officers found 14 transparent plastic bags containing suspected crystal methamphetamine, with a gross weight of 2.41 grams.Officers also seized a brown box, a shovel-shaped pipette, and a black Realme mobile phone.
During questioning, Imran admitted to officers that the suspected drugs belonged to him. Investigators then expanded their investigation at the same location and arrested YM alias Yuda.A search of Yuda uncovered one transparent plastic bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1.71 grams. Police also seized additional items allegedly linked to drug trafficking.
These included an electronic scale, empty plastic bags, a black Redmi mobile phone, a white mobile phone box, and Rp129,000 in cash, which police suspected was proceeds from drug sales.According to police, the suspected drugs seized from the two men had a combined gross weight of 4.12 grams.

AKP Sahat emphasized that police would continue to follow up on every piece of information related to the case. The objective, he said, was to uncover a wider drug network rather than limiting the investigation to individuals allegedly operating at the lower levels of the network.
"We do not want to stop with the two people who have been arrested. Every piece of information will be examined and followed up to uncover other parts of the network," AKP Sahat said.Police have taken the two suspects into custody along with all the seized evidence. Investigators from the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Narcotics Unit are also continuing the legal proceedings against both suspects in accordance with the findings of the investigation and applicable laws and regulations.

The uncovering of the suspected crystal methamphetamine trafficking operation in Tanjung Medan also highlights, according to police, the importance of public participation in combating drug-related crime. Information from residents can assist authorities in identifying activities suspected to be connected to drug trafficking or drug use in their communities.
AKP Sahat therefore urged residents of Labuhanbatu Selatan not to allow drug trafficking to spread in their surroundings. He called on the public to immediately report information concerning suspected drug-related activities to the police."The role of the public is very important. We ask residents to immediately report information about drug trafficking through Call Center 110 or to the nearest police station. We will follow up on the information in accordance with applicable procedures," he said in closing.
The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police view cooperation between law enforcement and the community as an important component in combating drug-related crime. Information from residents can provide officers with an initial lead for uncovering drug trafficking activities while also helping investigators pursue larger networks. As the investigation continues, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Narcotics Unit is working to determine the source of the suspected crystal methamphetamine shipment and establish whether other individuals may have been involved. Police are also keeping communication channels open to the public so that suspicious activities in local communities can be reported. (IDNC)
