MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Social Affairs Agency of the North Sumatra Provincial Government has reported that post-disaster assistance has reached 13,702 beneficiary households across several regencies and cities. The assistance includes housing support, living allowances, and economic recovery grants. These programs aim to help affected communities meet their basic needs and restore economic stability in the aftermath of the disaster.

Through its Social Affairs Agency, the North Sumatra Provincial Government continues to accelerate the distribution of financial assistance to ensure that affected residents receive the support they need as quickly as possible. In several areas, substantial portions of the planned assistance programs have already been implemented. This includes housing assistance, living allowances, and economic recovery support.

The Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Social Affairs Agency, Ady Putra, provided an update on the progress of the relief programs during a press conference organized by the North Sumatra Provincial Communication and Informatics Agency. The event took place in the lobby of the Dekranasda Building at the Governor's Office on Jalan Diponegoro, Medan, on Friday, September 2, 2026.

"In most regencies and cities, the assistance programs have already been fully implemented," Ady said.

His statement highlights the progress made in distributing aid across several regions included in the post-disaster recovery efforts. The Social Affairs Agency has also documented the budget allocations for each assistance program, which collectively involve substantial funding to address the needs of affected communities.

Disaster Relief Funding Totals Tens of Billions of Rupiah

According to the North Sumatra Provincial Social Affairs Agency, the government allocated Rp45.084 billion for the housing assistance program. An equal amount was also earmarked for the living allowance program, bringing the budget allocation for each of the two programs to Rp45.084 billion.

Meanwhile, the government allocated Rp75.14 billion for the economic recovery assistance program. Of this amount, Rp68.51 billion has reportedly been disbursed.

The housing assistance program is intended to help disaster-affected residents meet their accommodation needs. Living allowances are designed to cover essential daily expenses during the recovery and reconstruction period. Meanwhile, economic recovery grants aim to help beneficiaries rebuild their businesses, economic activities, and livelihoods disrupted by the disaster.

These three assistance programs form part of the government's broader efforts to support the recovery of affected communities. Through the gradual distribution of aid, the government hopes families will be able to resume their daily activities and restore their social and economic stability.

Tapanuli Tengah Receives the Largest Share of Assistance

Tapanuli Tengah Regency has received the largest allocation under North Sumatra's disaster relief program. The government allocated a combined Rp27.618 billion for housing assistance and living allowances, covering 9,206 beneficiary households.

Of this amount, Rp27.201 billion has reportedly been disbursed to 9,067 beneficiary households. This represents a realization rate of approximately 98.49 percent of the total available funding.

These figures indicate that the vast majority of eligible families in Tapanuli Tengah have already received housing assistance and living allowances. The government continues working to complete the remaining disbursements to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the support to which they are entitled under the applicable program provisions.

In addition to housing assistance and living allowances, Tapanuli Tengah received an allocation of Rp46.03 billion for the economic recovery assistance program. Of this amount, Rp45.335 billion has already been disbursed.

The North Sumatra Provincial Social Affairs Agency regularly monitors and documents disbursement progress based on the allocated budgets and the number of families receiving assistance.

Ady Putra reaffirmed that most regencies and cities had already completed their respective assistance programs.
